At MacNutt Enterprises, we’ve been providing residents of Victoria, Nanaimo and the Cowichan Valley quality soil, mulch and other landscaping products for decades. But, we do so much more than sell soil! Vancouver Island isn’t just where we do business, it’s our home. That’s why we’ve worked tirelessly to find ways not only to reduce our own environmental footprint, but to reduce the environmental footprint of the island’s forestry industry. We take forestry by-products and recycle them into high-grade, locally produced bark mulches, biomass fuel and even animal bedding! So when you purchase our locally manufactured soils and landscaping products, you can feel proud that you’re supporting our local economy, and the environment. We offer a wide selection of ground products for property owners, hobby farmers, small farms and home owners alike, including:
Custom blended soils
Soil amenders and top dressers
Cedar and fir chips
Fish mulch (composted fish is from wild sources)
We Don’t Just Sell Soil, We Deliver It Too
At MacNutt Enterprises, we are happy to provide pick-up or delivery service for our residential products, and we have a fleet of trucks to handle orders of any size. Some of our most popular soil options are our lawn and gardening soils. Our lawn soil is a roughly 50:50 ratio of sand and garden compost, and our garden soil is a mix of loamy topsoil and garden compost. All of our soils meet or exceed BC Landscape Standard specifications, and we are also happy to supply you with custom blended soils to fit your specific needs.
We produce a wide variety of fir bark mulches at MacNutt Enterprises. We have a fine dark bark mulch, which is a rich nutty brown with red highlights. We have a red bark mulch, which is a fine grind with a bold red colour. We also have a medium red bark mulch, which is red with blonde highlights, and has both coarse and fine pieces of bark (this is our longest lasting mulch). We also have a lovely fish mulch, which is a mixture of decomposed fir bark and composted fish from wild sources. Our garden compost is a strict mixture of greens and browns, leaves, grass trimmings and hedge trimmings that have been fully ground, composted, and re-strained. We also have chips, aggregates, top dressers and more!
We also offer our residential clients a variety of recycling options. We accept yard and garden waste, but please note that we only accept above-ground materials for yard waste. While we do accept things like stumps, rocks and roots, there is an additional charge and it must be removed from the yard waste. We also accept fill, sod and essentially any clean dirt or soil, including clay. For small loads (that would fit inside a regular sized pick-up truck) we offer flat rates. Larger loads will be weighed over our scale, unless previously arranged.
